The Indian Coast Guard has signed a Rs 400-crore deal with ABG Shipyard to buy three vessels to undertake marine environment protection initiatives along the country's coast. The first ship has been partially completed and was launched at the company's yard in Surat recently. Coast Guard Director General, R F Contractor, said these ships would be deployed in areas where there were oil spills. The ships are equipped with two arms that would pump in the water and oil inside the ship.
